Course Description

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of Risk Management and Incident Investigation in the maritime industry. Participants will learn how to identify hazards, assess and control risks using the ALARP principle, implement effective risk management processes, and investigate incidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence. The course also emphasizes the importance of human factors, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in building a proactive safety culture. Through practical examples, risk assessment demonstrations, and case studies, participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to make informed safety decisions and improve operational performance onboard ships and within shore-based organizations.

Requirements

Basic understanding of shipboard operations and maritime safety.

Familiarity with the ISM Code and Safe Management System (SMS).

Knowledge of common onboard hazards and work permit systems.

Experience in shipboard operations or marine industry is recommended.

Suitable for officers, engineers, superintendents, safety officers, and shore-based personnel involved in safety and risk management.
